Opti or something else?

I've been trying to get a friends car fix but have hit the end of the road on my troubleshooting without throwing new parts at it. It threw a code 42, and I cleared it, the next day it threw a code 36, I cleared it. Today the car didnt give me any codes at all. It does go lean on the passanger side though thruout the RPM range, pretty much stays pegged at 160LT. O2 on that side goes between 300-600mv or so. I can feel the car hesitate off idle, it almost wants to studder a bit. Anywhere between there and full throttle feels ok, just bogging a bit. Driving down the road its feels ok, but now when the converter locks up at low speeds the car studders if you try to accel. It is cammed and has 3.08's but I dont think that it studdered before. Wire are brand new, tried to swap O2's same thing, no exhaust leaks. The side that is supposed to be lean shows lower temptatures on the header then the side running fine. The primarys on the good side read 220-240, on the side that the computer is telling me lean is 175-200 at idle. Hope its enuff info for you guys to help.

i'd say the 36 and 42 are only going to start coming back and get progressively worse. I would go into denial and delete those codes too, didn't help.

check connector on harness that connects the opti to the ECU.

Follow what the codes tell you before you start looking elsewhere...

Code 36 = Hi Resolution Fail (usually means opti is on it's way out)
Code 42 = ICM module circuit.

I'd start by checking the ICM, and replacing if necessary. If the problem persists, I'd lean towards the opti being the culprit.

In the future, when the car throws a code, don't just delete it right away, research it, and troubleshoot from there. That's why the OBD system is there!

Many a mystery problem can be traced back to ground issues. Intermittent coding from multiple ignition components would have me checking connections, maybe even run an extra ground wire.
