how involved is opti switch
I've heard about the problems that it causes but do really know what it take to fix and how you go about doing it? Your thoughts? I dont want to have to fix it when it becomes a problem ut rather before it makes it that far.

Its hard to tell what your question is by reading your post. If you are looking for an install guide, look at http://www.streetillusionsracing.com.../opti/opti.htm
Re: how involved is opti switch
when replacing the opti you need to pull water pump, crank pully and crank hub..its always a good idea to replace the seals in your timing cover..you get all the gaskets and seals needed in the feltpro kits at autozone/advanced auto in the $20.00 range..when doing this you will need to loosen your oil pan bolts so your timing cover will slide into place 100 times easier... you might as well change plugs and wires if the need it as well as a new thermo just for good measure(dont have to but while you have the pump off you might as well replace it..) also check the bearings in the water pump..if the bearing on the drive shaft is bad...that will cause the pump to leak on the opti..instead of putting a new bearing in and have the problem downthe road..i put in a CSI electric pump..
hope this helps...

Re: how involved is opti switch
I sure wouldn't 'drop the front of the pan' for an opti[or front seal] swap..
The seals can all be done with the TC in place..
Also, if the seals aren't leaking, the hub needn't be removed either..
