Do a search first, there are many threads on the Meziere electric pump wiring and alarm circuit. Also, you,ll need to remove the timing chain cover and timing chain/cam gear to remove the old mechanical drive shaft. I hope no one leaves the drive shaft in the engine spinning without the pump end supported. Then plug the shaft hole in the cover. A 1/2" NPT tap and hex socket plug works great. You will also need a hydraulic press to press-out the old impeller pump shaft.

You can leave the water pump drive in place as long as it doesn't hit the back of the water pump. It will just spin freely and not hurt anything. There are plenty of ways to wire it up, but this is the way I'm going to since it seems to be the safest.

I'm not sure that is good advice, leaving the water pump drive shaft installed. Basically, that is "rigging it" and it could cause problems in the future. By design, the water pump drive shaft is centered with a bearings on both ends (water pump and block). With the water pump removed the shaft is no longer centered on that end, therefore it can wobble, even though there isn't any real load on the shaft. Then, as the bearing in the block wears over time, the wobble will increase causing extensive wear on the shaft drive gears (cam gear and shaft gear). Possibly, some people have left the shaft in and gotten away with it, however, that doesn’t make it a sound mechanical practice. Additionally, leaving the shaft in will be a really great place for an oil leak!
