How important is this vacuum line? *PIC*

For a few months now this line has been disconnected. Could this in any way be causing me to run rich, and cause the whitish smoke from bellowing out. I just reattached it, ran good, and there was no white smoke anymore?!!?
Could this line make my car run rich when disconnected?

Its NOT the line with the X on it. It is the one below it..the bottom one. This one seems to run around on the other side of the engine and then go down under the motor somewhere(its dark, didnt follow it)

Just take out the spaces in that to make it work

That goes to some solenoid on the passenger side. The solenoid is bolted to the intake and has 1 electrical connector and two vacumm line holes. That hole in the side of the TB goes to the upper hole on the solenoid! Hope this helps!

Nevermind that first post, if it goes below the motor and to the other side it goes to the fuel line loom. The fuel lines come in in their loom and that goes to a line theier! I think , some one may want to back me up on this!

I believe that line goes to a purge canister or something a bleeds of excessive pressure or something like that, not too sure though, i seriously doubt it could make you run rich, unless you left it unplugged and an open vacumm line could make it run pretty bad!

It would have been causing a vaccuum leak that would make it harder for the pcm to accurately control fuel delivery.

The port feeds the EVAP solenoid.

Not sure about your white smoke situation, but if it is gone with the line reconnected, then, there you go.

I tried to tune my 396 with that hose disconnected and it was running so rich I couldn't freakin see it was burning my eyes that bad.

O2's were at sub 100mv and motor was saying it was lean as hell and adding 50% fuel with 42lb injectors.

I found it the next morning after limping the car home thank goodness...
I can't imagine driving it like that for months. Car wouldn't even idle in gear or in neutral I had to program it for 1200RPM to make it driveable.

I should have car back after the the double pan gasket issue is resolved tomorrow.

Damn, sounds like your car needed that line more than mine lol. I put it back and took it out just up to like 92MPH...seemed to be doing better, but after i parked it the car still smelled like gas. Im gonna drive it for a few more days though, maybe the computer has to adjust.

Another thing, should I disconnect the battery for 5 min to reset the computer, or should it do that on its own?

Thanks.
