How hard is it to install O2 sensors?

How hard is it to do? How much should I expect to spend on AC DELCO's?

delcos? prolly $50 a peice. install is easier than changing oil. unscrew from exhaust pipe, unhook from connector and put the new ones in. took me 10 min and i had to walk the jack around from the back yard.

I only need two (pre/post-cat) on a '95 right? Where exactly are the O2 sensors located?

The driver side is easy. It screws right out and is in the open, but the passenger side was impossible for me to get out. You need a special socket for it because of its position. I bought mine off of GM parts direct. it was $84 after everything.

So there is one sensor per bank? I did them on my 98 Z28 a few years ago, and I remember one being on the y-pipe (if I remember correctly).

Hey Z28marine!

What does that tool you bought from Gm to remove the O2 sensor from the passenger side manifold look like.

Thanks Lee!

Here is what you do fellas to help with the O2 sensor removal on the passenger side. You go buy a decent but cheap wrench. I forget the size now, just check that and do the rest of what I say. Take the wrench and cut it in half, that makes the wrench shorter and easier to get in there. Then take something and grind out a slot in top part of the box end of the wrench, then you can allow the wrench to go around the wires and get a better hold on the O2. I really hope you understand this!! It was a godsend when I did the O2's.

my passenger side was impossible because where the y-pipe bolted up to the manifold there was a little piece on the manifold that kept me from getting any type of 02 socket or wrench or anything on it. But it just gave me an excuse to get lt's so its all good

This is what ive learned in my experience with o2 sensor sockets - they suck...when you are turning the socket, it spreads open and just rounds off the hex on the sensor. So this is what i do. I cut off the wires just above the sensor, then i can fit a six sided 7/8 inch deep socket right over it. With most cars youll need a universal joint and long extension also to get to it, but this is by far the easiest way and it will break loose right away.

Yah , It is a nightmare with BBKs also. I had to cut mine in half with a sawzall and then use a socket to get on the S.O.B I thougt it was going to be a cake walk.....nope. It never is. Good luck.

I had to disconnect the y-pipe to get at mine. It's a breeze once you get the y-pipe off.

Cool

I couldn't get my easy one out with shorty wrench or socket. The one after passenger cat which is easily acessible under passenger door side.

Took it down street and was told it wasn't me. Had to drop y-pipe, torch the pipe at sensor, remove, weld in bung and put in new sensor. Old one was frozen in from heat after 108,XXX miles.
