How hard to change out window.
I got a ticket fot tint in my car. I wanted to switch the glass with a friend camaro to get it signed off, how hard is this? Should I just pay to have to taken off them to have it redone?
Slow Power Window
Shoebox,
I have been having problems with my power windows operating slowly and with 225K miles on the car and based on everyone's postings, I bought 2 motors from Jason but after replacing the first one using your how-to, I found out it did not help. I now believe that most of the slowness comes from a need to generally clean the regulator and tracks and regrease everything. I have now removed the regulator and learned a few things that I thought I should share.
First on my 94Z convertible, the window is screwed to the regulator track using plastic grommets, not riveted. The dealer parts diagram shows a metal grommet backer which my car did not have and I have been having a problem with these screws coming loose. Hopefully the backer will make the connection more secure than just the factory original grommet.
Second, drilling out the large rivets that hold the regulator to the door frame was fairly easy and you can replace it with 1/4" machine screws.
I plan to put it all together tonight after I clean and relubricate. The only thing left is the switch so hopefully this will fix it.
Hope this info helps.
