How far can you bore a stock Lt1 block?
How far can you bore a stock Lt1 block?
I read on a page today about a 350 LT1 block bored .100 over (409CID)
Can you really bore these blocks out that far?
I can understand that you probably couldn't go any further if you damaged the cylinder walls somewhere down the road, can you think of any other drawbacks to that kind of extreme displacement?

Re: How far can you bore a stock Lt1 block?
Cylinder wall flexing which robs you of power due to insufficient ring seal is the most immediate problem, the next one and most obvious is weakened cylinder walls which tend to crack if pushed too far. I've also heard that the thin walls can cause overheating problems, but don't know for sure on that.
