How do i use dielectric grease, and should i?

I threw in ngk-tr55 plugs today and want to put in my taylor wires tomorrow that came with some dielectric grease. I was wondering what am i supposed to do with it? I hear you put it in the boot but where do you put it? Do you put it where the plug and wire contact each other? or just a little on the rubber part? I am wondering if i should use it at all?

Take a Q Tip and put a small amount in the plug end boot and metal connector,do the same on opti end.Your boots will come off the next time you change the plugs without having to pry them off.

It is supposed to go on the inside of the boot on the rubber.

actually i do believe my shop manual says to NOT put the grease on the opti side. Only on the plug side

I'd say coat both ends, the inside of the rubber boots only, and not the metal contacts.. [never heard of that 'not on the opti side]

yeah just squirt some on the inside of the boot, its not going to hurt anything, it will even out when you stick it onto the plug

It doesn't matter how and where you drive your car. The grease helps keep the boots from sticking to the plugs. You can get the wires off more easily and you don't tear them up doing it.

FWIW i put about a peanut-sized amount in the end of each boot. That way when you slip it on it seals the boot and connections... even at the opti. Been running like a champ for the last 40,000+ miles and the boots pop off without a hassle.

I swab with a Q tip inside the rubber boots only.. nowhere near 'peanut size'..
