there is also what seems to be an "extra" lobe right at the front, along with a "white" instead of "yellow-hotcam" stripe next to the gear on the cam...guys on ls1tech seem to think this is not a hotcam but simply an lt4 gs cam or other lt4 cam.
dude.. the numbers on the back of the cam tell you what it is.. 24502586 is the hot cams p/n and it matches the three numbers on your cam.. its like why they call an 12370847 an 847 cause gm only stamps the last three digits on the cams..

ok dude ya thats what im thinking also but the thing is when i put this next to my stock cam i don't see any difference, and when i mic'd it out from the top of the lobe to the bottom of the base it was the same as my stocker. so i was like wtf ?? i also got a piece of aluminum i know was perfectly straight and put it on the journals with the lobe facing up and i could not see a difference in space between the aluminumn and the top of the lobe between the stock and alleged lt4hotcam

There isn't going to be that much of a visable difference in the two cams. There is only about 0.030" more lift on the hot cam and a bit more duration.

the top of the lobe will look the same anyway, it has the part# so put it in

alright guys here's what i did to figure out the lift:
I measured the height of the lobe (top of lobe to bottom of base) then i measured the base circle and subtracted the two numbers and then i multiplied that number by my rocker ratio 1.6 to come up with .5248 and .524 the second time, throw in some slight mechanical and human error of .0001-.001 or so.....then doesn't this calculation prove its a genuine hotcam?

i then proceeded to do the same with the stock cam measured lobe height and base with subtracted and multiplied by 1.5 (factory rocker) to come up with .444 -.447 lift (some lobes are more worn than others.. 100k cam)
then for shvts and giggles i used the stock calculation and threw in 1.6 instead of 1.5 to come up with about .477 lift, which is what the corvette's came with i believe (could be wrong)

SOOOO what do you guys think ?

On GM cams, the last 3 digits of the part # are usually stamped on the end of the cam. (the 070 03r is in "dot matrix" print, right, while the 586FM67 is solid print?).

The 586 would indicate that you do have a hot cam. Any chance your "stock" cam isn't stock?

Sorry - missed red94chicken's post when I replied. He's absolutely correct; you have the hot cam.
