How do I take off my Y-pipe from the I-pipe.Help
Re: How do I take off my Y-pipe from the I-pipe.Help
There are three bolts on each side that mount the y-pipe to the manifolds, and two that mount the cat. convertor to the I-pipe. Have fun with the ones that mount to the manifolds, they can be a real booger.

I had to saw mine too.... it looked like it may have had a clamp at one point... but at that point it was too far gone to touch with a wrench.

Where did you get the exhaust from? If you bought it from me (micheal) I KNOW mine had a band around the pipe where it goes together, you should have the same thing on yours. If so, loosen the ring, and beat, pull, slam, cuss alittle and eventually it will come off. It is not fun but you'll get it, keep trying.

I had to cut the clamp off and then bang the muffler toward the rear of the car so the cat back would slip out of the y-pipe. At the time, all I did was install a Borla cat-back. When my longtubes went in, the y-pipe was cut into many pieces. Chances are, not many took the y-pipe off whole because there isnt usually a point to that. Stock exhaust is worthless metal.
