how do Groty LTs rank??

Anyone know good Groty LTs are in comparison with the other brands such as hooker, jet hot, and arizona speed and marine? I am just wondering because i have not heard much about them, but looking at the pics of them, they look pretty sick compared to hookers and jet hots atleast... does anyone know where that brand stands?

do they still make them for LT1's?
back in the day they did but i thought they discontinued them?

other then that, they are few and far between because of price and availability

I think they went under last I heard. If you were going to spend that much for a set of headers, just get the Kooks.

kooks are expensive... I am picking up these used groty LTs for around $400 (about the price of used jet hots) and they are in immaculate condition judging by pictures.

Thats different. I thought you had already planned on spending the money for some Grots new. You should PM Gripenfelter, he had some if I remember right.

Re: how do Groty LTs rank??

I owned a set of Grtos for a short period of time. Actually installed them until I figured out that they are tranny specific headers and rubbed against the tranmission pan on the passenger side. I sold them to a buddy to get my MAC's back so I dont know about the performance but they looked good all but a couple things. Plug access was ok on the passenger side but wasnt that great on the drivers side. The heads of the bolts ran right next to the primaries making it tough to get all of the header bolts tight...even with 12-point headed bolts. Other than that, they looked great. Just be careful about the tranny specific stuff. I dont know too much about it but I know I got burnt by it.

Re: how do Groty LTs rank??

Grotd were my last set of headers. They make good power in my opinion, and sound pretty darn good with a Borla exhaust. That's for the pro's. On the other hand, the plug clearance on the passenger side is terrible, especially the number 4 and # 6 plugs. They wrap under the starter. Meaning, if your starter ever goes out, guess what? Had they been for those two important items, they'll be in my opinion one of the best headers for the LT1 out there. If you don't mind having to deal with that, then I think you'll be happy.

My car is a 96 Z28 M6.

Edit: Oops, I need to update my sig. Currently, I have a set of Jet-Hot LT's and a Spec Stage IV Clutch.
