How come nobody sells stock LT1 crate engines?
Why? I just want a stock one as dont want to spend alot of money like in the combination motorsports engines.
SDPC used to advertise a brand new LT1 shortblock for $1,8xx. http://www.sdpc2000.com/
I called Billy Grahams about this some time ago. They wanted
what I would consider, too much for a used engine whose history is unknown (around 2k). Better to find a good short block and go from there.

I got my new short block (4 bolt mains) for $1750.00 to my door.
You might try Sallee Chevrolet in Milton Freewater, Oregon. If anybody knows where you can get a crate or a short block they probably can help you. JMHO.
As was mentioned, when an engine is discontinued, GM gets rid of everything and you will have to search elsewhere to see where they dumped the stuff.

There's a dealer in Denver area that has had good luck finding oddball GM short and long blocks - Burt Chevrolet. Maybe a year ago, they found a supply of 4-bolt main "marine" LT1 shortblocks.
