How to check voltage on tps

Can I use any type of voltmeter to test the voltage? just pierce the blue wire and ground the other lead? sorry first time using a voltmeter.. I'm not sure where to set the dial. I tried checking it with these directions http://www.golenengineservice.com/html/tps.html and never came up with anything close to .67 volts. any help is appreciated. this is the voltmeter im using
, will it work? where do I need to set it

That's all I did, using a digital volt meter I touched the positive lead to the blue wire and the other to a good ground spot.

Just try turning the dial on yours until you get a reading. My meter is different from yours so my dial readings won't match yours. You'll need the setting that reads less than 1 volt to more than 5 volts. I turn my DVM dial to the 20 setting.

I got it re-adjusted from .526 up to .676 , will that be good enough? Do I need to reset the PCM or the IAC?

The only other thing I would do is disconnect the battery for 30 seconds or so, then reconnect it and start the engine. No other adjustment is required to the IAC or PCM.

The computer resets the TPS start position at evey KEY ON, so no resetting of the computer is necessary.

Why do you feel you needed to get it to 0.670V? The PCM will recognize anything between 0.20-0.90V for closed throttle voltage, and prorate the throttle position percent (TTP) value from there.

I guess i felt that way because I didn't know any of the above..
I don't know why the writeup told me to "look for .67 volts when it could've said anything between .20-.90

When I fooled around with setting the voltage on my 415 L98, I found the engine performed best with a setting just above .60; so I settled on .62.

Then when I read that Golen Engines recommends .67 on the LT1, I figured, "Why not" so I modified my son's TPS so it would hold that .67 setting.

I don't know if that setting helped or not, because his engine was fresh with new heads and cam/rockers. It certainly didn't hurt though.

I've never seen any evidence, or even a logical explanation for setting a specific value. The stock, unmolested factory units are usually about 0.67V. I suspect people have picked up on that and assumed there is some benefit.
