How to Change Pinion Seal?
I already tried the Drivetrain forum, but I need need the info before tonight so I can do it this weekend. Here's the post:
It appears as though my pinion seal is bad. I've noticed a lot of fluid-type gunk on the rear torque arm mount. I cleaned it off, and It was wet again after just one day.
Does anyone know of any good write ups on changing the pinion seal? The rear end kind of makes me nervous, so I'd like detailed instructions. Also, what is the fluid capacity for the rear? My owners manual is gone.
Also, what is entailed in replacing my fuel filter?

Take the DS off. Mark EXACTLY where your pinion nut is (VERY IMPORTANT) Then take the pinion nut off using a big *** socket (i think 1 1/4) Pry the seal out with a screwdriver. Put some ultracopper aroud the new seal and pop it in. Put the pinion nut exactly where it was (if u tighten it to hard it will make the rear whine, if u dont do it hard enough u will lose the preload on the bearings) Put the DS back on and u should be good to go. The rear end hold around 1 1/2 bottles, dont forget the GM additive for the posi.
Fuel Filter is really easy, its near the driver side rear tire. Just take it out and put a new on in.

What's involved in taking down the driveshaft? Do I just need to disconnect the side connected to the pinion nut?
Don't I have to disconnect the fuel lines, and things like that for the fuel filter?
