my wife was driving our 1996 camaro z28 2day , when it stopped running . there is oil all all over the engine and it wont start . but it will turn over . could this be a thrown rod or something simpler hopefully . any and all help is appreciated . thanks jay ps no pressure just turns over

If there's oil all over everything, then you probably put a rod through the block or oil pan.

Have you physically looked yet?

 

i cant get it on the ramps yet to look . but i put oil in it and wasnt leaking . also , got the pressure up to the 1st white line

What were you doing when it stopped?

 

check and see if the oil pressure sensor is broken or cracked. could have been spraying threw a crack when the oil was hotter and thinner. its back behind the intake maifold on your yr i think. if u lost oil pressure the computer should shut the injectors off and or the fuel pump.

The LT1 in th F-Body does not have the oil pressure/fuel pump interlock, like the LT1 in the Corvette. Low oil pressure will not shut anything down via the PCM.
