How can I perminently bend my headers?

Ive got hooker longtubes and my drivers side collector is bent angled down because of something I did. I managed to bolt up a different Y pipe and you can tell it should be higher closer to the floor pan. I have a jack holding the entire system to its propor position but how can I get it so it won't come back? I have a feeling the answer is either heat or a hanger. Will heat proporly "Lock" it in? Or should I somehow get a hanger? Also, there is this black bracket that would hold the exhaust in the position I want it in, but I have a feeling it would bang on it. Is there something soft that wont burn when directly touching the exhaust?

Heat is going to be your best bet.

You're deffinetly going to have to heat it. Be carefull though the material, especially around the welds, which can be suprisingly brittle. Make sure you heat it well and bend with even pressure.

Heat it with the engine or heat it with a torch?

get it REAL hot with a torch on the bends in the tube that need to be repositioned.....apply the heat WHILE the header is bent into the proper position....then cool quickly with a wet rag....should stay in place.
