how to bleed air out of cooling system

this is what i have been doing so please let me know if it is right or wrong.

1 open both bleeder valves (1 on the hose that goes to the top of the water pump 2 is on the hose that comes of the top left side of the radiator.)

2 fill radiator with coolant wait afew mintues and top off

3 fill the little coolant overflow bottle up with coolant. and replace radiator cap.

4 start the car and let it go into open loop (thermo open)

5 open radiotor cap (with car on or off?) fill as needed

6 check level in coolant overflow and add as needed.

7 with car running open blleder valve ontop of water pump and make sure a steady stream of water is comming out with no air in it.

8 close 1 st blleder valve and open second untill all air is out of the system (when i open the second one usaly i have to hit the gas a lil to make the water come out. then close blleder valve

9 sometimes i will open the radiator cap agin and top it off because of the wateri lost durring bleeding it.

That sounds fine. I'm sure GM has a set procedure, but as long as you get all the air out, it dosn't matter how you get it done.

I usually fill the radiator, open both bleeders, start the engine and continue topping off until water comes out of the bleeders.

with engine cold and both bleeder screws open and filling radiator that should bleed 90% of the air out.
