how to beat an LS1 in a race from 20-80

i put 4.10s in and the only other mods are a 170 degree thermostat, custom tuning by me, and cai. i turned a corner and i had an LS1 trans am behind me that turned. it pulled up next to me quick and hopped and took off, i eased into WOT so the tires didnt break loose in 2nd. by the time i was at 6500rpm i was reeling him in fast and i hit third and flew by him. M6 and 4.10s are a good combination.

you must've ran into a poor running 98-99 A4 or something, because with those mods plus some a buddy of mine in his 96 WS6 M6 still got wasted by a bone stock 02 Firehawk M6.

Like Feenix said, that LS1 must not have been running well. With your mods, I don't think it would be possible to beat a stock, well-running LS1. Also, how many people actually see people with stock LS1's racing them on the street? Most at least have intake/exhaust upgrades. Once I get my water pump replaced and my hesitation fixed, I'm pretty sure I could take a WS6 or SS.

I beat a 02 35th SS last weekend by 2- 2 1/2 cars. it has exhaust, fast toys ram air, lid, pulleys and a few other things.

but of course i was spraying a 150 shot LOL

He ran a 13.08 last time at the track so I can't wait to see what I will run.

that trans am definately had exaust. it wasnt a stock sound. i know he had an automatic because both of his hands where on the steering wheel. gearing and traction make a huge difference in autos and M6's. if i wouldve had et streets like said before, i couldve slammed it to WOT in 2nd with the 4.10s and hooked. plus my tuning probably has alot to do with it. i have a very well tuned VE table and a very aggressive timing table for use with 93 octane. also forgot to mention i have a gutted cat and a flowmaster race muffler with 3 inch i-pipe.

I totally believe the story, just figured he ran into an auto 98-99. Because with the mods I have I can run dead even with a buddies 98 A4 Z28 with SLP LM catback up to 80-90 where he ever so slightly starts to edge out on me, and I do mean very slightly, but as far as an LT1 with those limited mods, and walking away from one??? Thats just not normal, but anything can happen.

Or you can just go 383 LE3 like myself... that'll settle some issues with a stock LS1.
