HotCam Question...

I'm looking at the LT4 HotCam kit for my LT1. I'm wondering what kind of gains I will see with a basically stock LT1. i.e. stock manifolds, no CAI, no head work, etc.
Just an 80,000 mile LT1 with a HotCam...

Any guesses?

Re: HotCam Question...

Most of the people who do a hotcam with supporting bolt-ons see around 330; so I don't know - maybe in the neighborhood of 290?? Sound about right, everyone else??

Re: HotCam Question...

Dont forget that you will need new lifters. I forgot to incorporate them into the cost of the cam-upgrade. it was a $400 surprise..

Unless you are worried about emissions, you might consider going with a bigger cam.. like a cc306 or XE grind.. just a thought.

In retrospect, I would have gone bigger on the cam and ported the heads with the intake manifold... I had the car apart anyway.

JBIRD's estimate is about right.. 300ish HP... get a high stall and prepare to be amazed..

Stock lifters will be fine with the little hot cam. Also they only cost like $200 new. I wouldn't go with any bigger of a cam as the car is gonna be really choked up with manifolds. I would say you might put down about 290ish. There is a guy on the board with a 227/233 and WS6 ram air, i think catback but no headers and put down 302 hp. You will be below that.

Re: HotCam Question...

OK, so I really should do headers... But I should see ~295hp @ the wheels with just the cam, springs, and rockers, with stock heads...?

Thanks
Dave
