as long as your springs can handle it, i believe that you have to get different sized pushrods also

pushrods will still be the same. If you have the LT4 springs in there you will be fine.

the pushrod side of the rocker is no different from stock, it is the roller tip side that is longer.

Edit: You may want to go with some chromeoly pushrods though. That's a lot of stress on the pushrod.

If you are running the hotcam kit, you will need guideplates and hardend pushrods. I didnt check if your car is a 94, but if so, you have the pushrods. I haven't seen an SA set of 1.7s, but if they are out there, you could use them without guideplates.

Yea, if you can find any 3/8" stud Self Aligning rockers, then you could just bolt them in place of the originals (with new springs). If you get bigger studded ones, you will need to replace the studs too. Basically you either need self aligning rockers or guideplates. The guideplates are the same ones that you would need for 1.6 rockers, but you have to work with them a little. Its a good idea either way to get hardened moly pushrods.

Good luck,
Stu

Why is it different if you have a 94? Just wondering because I have one.

the 94's and 95's had hardened pushrods already from the factory

You can get the Scorpion rockers from FlatLander Racing I think they are like $202.

I am still considering going with the 1.7's, I think it would be worthwhile to do it.

Hot Cam & 1.7 rockers

1.7 Rockers are for bigblocks. Also if you get over .550" lift they recommend you go to non self aligning rockers and guide plates. I have never seen 1.7's for a small block. But I could be wrong. I would check about the self aligning rockers they may not work with that much lift.

1.7's

I stand corrected. Flatlander carries them for small blocks. It does state that with the 1.7' the reccomend going to guide plates though. Learn something new everyday.

Make sure to get the GM guidplates. They are flat, not raised like the comps. I can't remember the part number, but a simple search will find it. It has all the part numbers you need. I went with the 7/16s and new rocker studs as well. Changing that stuff is the cake job. Doing the valvesprings is a PITA, especially with a crappy valvespring compressor.

I thought the LT4 springs were already borderline with the 1.6 RR's. Seems like you would need new springs if you went with 1.7 RR's

I could be wrong though.
