hotcam with 1.7 rr's
#2
I read over on one of the vette forums a fella with an LT1 vette and hotcam kit changed out the 1.6s for 1.7s and gained another 15rwhp... has dyno sheets to prove it too. I'd venture to say you could gain upwards of 20rwhp with them on the stock cam.

yes i would try them out on the hotcam. I'm gonna try some 1.7rr's on my stock cam. I just wanna see what kind of power i can get as a bolt on car. Well sort of still a bolt on. Unless you count poping off the valve covers as an internal mod.

Drew - I just saw this post, after the one you had about getting dyno'd with LT today. Do you have the 1.7s yet? If not, when do you plan on getting them? I am in the middle of putting mine on right now. I will let you know what it does on the dyno this weekend hopefully. I'm shooting for 330 rwhp with bolt-ons.

Lift with stock cam and 1.5s: .447 int/ .459 exh
1.6s: .477/.490
1.7s: .507/.520
That's a pretty substantial increase in lift.... almost hotcam territory. From some of the results i've seen on here from 1.6s (10-15rwhp), i'd say the 1.7s have the potential to hit 20rwhp. Might even help fatten up the torque curve in the higher rpms since the stock cam's lack of duration and overlap choke it.
Who knows, an M6 with LTs, CAI, cutout, electric WP, and 1.7s might hit 320rwhp with a good tune.
As for the hotcam:
lift with 1.6s: .525/.525
1.7s: .558/.558
Might bump you up to 340rwhp or so.
I wanted to get these with LT4 springs this summer (can get everything needed for under $300, including the rockers, GPs, seals, etc). But current budget shows that i probably better not

I know a guy thats running mid 10 in a bolt on LS1. That is if you consider the 200 shot that he bolted on. Im just playing, lol.
Cams, cranks, rods, pistons, and heads are internal. Everything else minus nitrous is bolt on IMO.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

The numbers I gave are correct for hvyss. I was answering his question about the lift on CC XE cam he mentioned, not the hotcam. He gave .544/.555 with 1.6s
