Hot day, coolent temp does weird things.
Hot day, coolent temp does weird things.
Today was a hot one, and my car ran cool and great, but then I start getting a little crazy for some people, and run anther T/A a few times, and then my car stays hot.
I turned my manual fan switch on, and it stayed at like 210, but everytime I'd stop, it'd go like half way between 210 and the red.
But then everytime I'd start moving, it'd go right back down.
So when I get it home, I pop the hood and listen, and you can hear coolant I guess moving through the lines, and I could feel it moving through the t/b bypass line.
I dont see any leaking, and I bleed the lines to see if there was air in the lines, but i dont think there was, but the water in the lines was so hot that it sizzled away when it hit the water pump when I was bleeding it.
It was shocking how fast the gauge would move back down when I started going again, but it still didnt go below 210.
With my fan switch it's ussually at 180.
Any insight?
James

so the temp on the gauges is the temp of the coolant in the heads?
please dont laugh at me yet, i havent pulled the almighty lt1 apart yet. im used to the standard cooling system that i have always dealt with on my 5.0's.
but now i've moved on from the ford's, and acctually got a car that will start every morning
