Hot cam shift points with stock timing set?

The instructions that came with the hot cam said that the HD timing set is necessary for engine operation past 5500 rpms. I couldn't afford the Extreme duty, so i just got the stock timing set. Where should I set my shift points with this? I ran it today, and its shifting past 6K rpms, but i'm not sure where exactly its shifting. Thanks for the help.

I had the rev limiter set at 6000 with hot cam and stock timing set.

I think they are being just a little conservative on that rpm limit being that a stock LT1 redlines at what, 5800 - 5900? You should be pretty safe shifting at 6000 with a stock timing set. I went with the Cloyes double roller, it's a very strong set and was only $80. I just had to use an electric wp which I was going to do anyway. I ran the times below shifting it at 6k, I think it may do a little better shifting even higher after I checked my last dyno result, it was still pulling up to 6200. I set my limiter at 6500, I don't like hitting it when racing

I had the same worry as you but I just used a new stock timing chain and haven't had any problems at all.
