hot cam install..now no power

We got a 95 lt1 with a rebuilt engine that has hooker shortys, hot cam kit and egr/smog deleted..exhaust is dumped at ypipe, o2 sensors are about 20 inches away from the end of the ypipe.it feels like the knock sensor is retarding the timing but I'm not certain because my scan tool won't connect to my ALDL. What I was wondering is do most hot cam engines cause the stock lt1 knock module to detect false knock? The engine has no bottom end and acts like its only firing on 6 cylinders..the engine shakes at 1300-2000 rpm..any help will be great..thanks

It sounds like the timing gears or opti might not be lined up properly. Spark plug wires crossed?

Using full roller rockers will produce "false" knock. You can swap in the LT4 knock module. It was designed to eliminate false knock due to the Crane Gold roller rockers used on the LT4 engine. But a bit of knock retard isn't going to make it feel like its running on 6 cylinders.

Did it ever run good after you bolted everything back together, or has it been running poorly from day 1? Did it run OK before you did the HOT cam install?

As far as the scanner, are you having a problem connecting the OBD-I 12-pin scanner connector to your 95's 16-pin OBD-II style ALDL connector? If so, Shoebox has the answer:

And, your signature is a bit confusing. Your post says the 95 has Hooker shorties and a HOT cam, but your signature says it has Pacesetter mids. Signature shows your 93 has the Hookers????

hot cam

Did you shorten the pin on the end of the cam before installing it? Check for proper placement of plug wires also. Are all the injectors plugged in? I installed the Hot in my 93 2 years ago- it passes CT emissions. There is, supposedly a smother running cam now available for this engine that will give you the power you desire with out the rough running -truck-like manners that the Hot does
