HOT Cam folks, How loud are your Rockers??

I can hear mine loud and clear. I've heard some people say that they're barely loud than the stock rockers. Are mine just way too loose, I did 1/2 turn past zero lash. Or do they quiet down a little as they get broken in.

Louder than stock that is for sure. Sometimes mine are quiet sometimes they are loud. Usually after driving for a while at idle they click and tick. I think I need to adjust my rockers though.

I had the same concern as you when i first drove my car after the Hotcam. I redid them twice, I was so concerned with the noise. I finally asked my brother what he thought and he said they sounded pretty quite compared to his (he has a 92 Z with built 355 and 12# ATI). I figureed fine and drove the car daily. After about 3 days, I either forgot about it or it got quiter. I am not sure but I don't hear them anymore.

My are real loud too. Unfortunetly my exhaust is as quiest as stock so all you hear are the rockers. Kinda get weird looks like your car is messed up. "it's a solid roller"

Thumbs up

My rocker noise is pretty much only at idle. Granted tey are a lot louder than stock, but they have been installed properly and the car is running great.

Just curious, do you still have the LT1 Knock module? Or have you also gone to the LT4 one. From *what I have read*, it may be beneficial to go to the LT4 module, as it doesn't report as sensitive as the LT1 module.

Do a search on it...

I have had the knock module for the LT4 in before my headers and cam, so i can't really tell if it has made a difference. One thing i do know is that it probably won't be as helpful for A4s because all LT4 production vettes were M6s.

They are noisy. Also, these self aligning ones are noisier than the non sa from what I hear. Mine do seem to have gotten a little quieter since installing them though, or maybe I'm just getting more used to it. They tend to be noisiest when I first start it, after warming up they quiet down a lot.

Really, that is what it kinda sounds like-an old SBC solid lifter cam. The sound is not particularly objectionable, but is noticeable. The LT4 valve covers help a little, but don't get rid of the noise.

So are you all using the GMPP rockers as part of the Hotcam kit? Are the Crane Gold Race any quieter or about the same?

They're the same rockers, just different color and branding. Crane makes the GMPP rockers.
FWIW, my GMPP rockers are noticably louder than stock, but it's not obnoxiously loud. I have mine adjusted 1/2 turn past zero lash also.

Mine are louder than stock but not enough to me to care. Goes with the territory I guess.
