Thumbs up Hot Cam: before and after (READ!!)

OK I dyno'ed my car a week ago and I left my car at the dyno for them to install my hot cam kit. I dyno'ed at 271 HP, 322 torque (remember those numbers...)

So I left it there on Saturday...on Monday I get a call saying my car is in trouble. Damn! Oil leak in my intake, oil on my opti and water pump. Taking off the coil shows I need a new coil...looking at my wires I need new wires. I also need a new sepertine (sp) belt and a ton of gaskets. Call Jason in Florida....parts plus overnight delivery is like $480....AWESOME!

Call on Wednesday...."Matt, you got the wrong timing chain and cover..." Call up my GM dealer asking for a price....$308. OK, let's call Jason again. Jason's price: $198. Ok, I guess I'll go to Jason. Overnight again from Florida, around $215. SUCKS! So finally I get a call on Saturday saying my car is all set, but they sealed something with silicone and it needs to sit overnight. FIIIIINE, I'll get it Sunday AM. Strap my car to the dyno...and my NEW numbers are: 305.7 HP, 327.4 torque! 34 HP from the cam kit! And my A/F SUCKS...it's at 13 at 3.2 RPMs, and dives down to like 11.2 at 5.2.

With my A/F tuned, LT4 KM, airfoil, 160* switch and UD pullies...I'm hoping for 330. So there's proven numbers for all you debating the Hot Cam Kit.........

How is that an assload of $ for what he'll end up getting? Some would say several thousand dollars on an unnecessary shortblock under the guise of "doing it right" is more of a waste .

PCMforless dynotune? That's an oxymoron, he's got a dyno available, why let someone guess.

Question

Sorry, this is going to sound like a retarded question, but what is involved in a "dynotune"? I had pcm4less do my tuning after all my mods, but was is done during a dynotune.

tuning the pcm while on the dyno so you see realtime effects of the tuning. you're not constantly sending it back and forth with a mailorder tune.

there was more than 1 reason for doing the 383.
and much more than a performance gain.
My car isn't finished
one day when i become unlazy i'll put the heads on.
My bottom end was ANYTHING but a unnecessary

RRs came with the kit.....PCMforless will be next and it's only $100....I would've found out my opti, water pump, wires and stuff was dead. If I installed myself, then I would've spent like 500....not bad for 35 HP...........

It's really only an assload of money because of hte problems the shop encountered. Had they not, I'm sure you would have not made that comment.

It's the numbers from the track, that are more important.
