Hot Cam?

I have a 1995 Z28 Camaro, with a moroso cold air intake, hi-flow cat, hooker headers, and flow master muffler. I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me what the horsepower increase would be if I just added a hot cam?

Re: Hot Cam?

~30 hp. You'll get a bit more with tuning.

Re: Hot Cam?

From what I've seen, it looks like 40-45. It's a really good all around street cam that has a bit of lope, doesn't need alot of stall, broad powerband, easy on valvetrain, you still have brakes, and can run easy 12's - some mid 12's.

Re: Hot Cam?

20rwhp or two cars on the street, if you have long tubes add another two cars or 20rwhp, i know one of my friends did the hot cam and was dissopointed till the headers, then his car ran with my other friends 224/230 with headers, but what is sad is my car has a stock cam and manifolds and they only beat me by one, two cars on the street. At the track we run the same times but i have a better 60ft. They have 20-30 more hp but i weigh 300 lbs lighter, got to love camaro's over the heavy TA's.

hotcam is a good cam, its about the same as 224/230 only 5-10 hp difference, but the 224/230 has a powerband like a 125 dirt bike, once it hits 3500rpm it comes a live , but its not that much faster than the hot cam. the 224/230 is more fun to drive but it falls on its face with the a/c on at a traphic light. the hot cam will not, this is because of the 114lsa vs; 112lsa.

Good luck , see you on the street

Re: Hot Cam?

I've got a hotcam, 1.6RR's, and hooker shorties. On a Mustang dyno (with 2 bad plug wires) I got 319hp/313tq.

My bad, forgot hot cam was on a 112lsa.

my friend dynoed 303 on a dyno jet, with the 224/230 but the next day the opti went out, not sure if that had any effect on the numbers.

i like the 224/230 IMO
