while the idea of bigger is better may seem true in this case, its not, velocity plays such a large role.

I am usually not a jerk to those of you just now reading this but these guys need to relax.
dont take this the wrong way, but the way you said it in the initial post made it not look good. anyway, in my honest opinion, if a porter doesnt have a flow bench he has no business porting heads. i am hoping you are having Mike Yelvington do the work, because then i know it will be done right. but Mike does have a flow bench. and FWIW, most of what would be considered 'high end' race engine builders around here build engines well over the $100K mark for pro mod and such. $10K for a motor really isnt that much. like i said, im not trying to be a smartass, just my opinion. anyway, if you need some help shoot me a PM, im local.

Re: horsepower question

dude, you need to relax. you were the one posting a 'what numbers will I see' thread and we're simply responding. you didn't give accurate information in the initial post so we questioned you. if you did truly port the 'intake hole' all the way out on both the heads and intake, you're up $hit creek.

Dear Santa,
Please bring me a new set of heads.
...that is all.

yes this post seems real helpful if your mad because my car is going to be faster than yours just say so, all i am saying is that there are to ways you can help some one out the smart as# way and the common courteous way. I see that you have chosen the wrong road as i said before i will post some dyno results here in the next couple weeks and i guess we will both see. All i know is that i have seen the guy that built my heads run low nines without the bottle so im going to trust him.
thank anyway marry x-mas

Re: horsepower question

haha you really want to act this immature? that post was a joke, considering its hours from Christmas, and figured people would get a kick out of it. you have h/c and you're faster. must make you a better person...

one thing i do know, when i get one of lloyd's packages, you better believe id have a better understanding of what I have; not describing my intake as an 'intake large' and not specifying work done to my heads past being ported.

Remember, Jesus loves you! I think you're a dick.

Re: horsepower question

I just don't see where your cockiness is coming from. You are getting all touchy over some heads as you described as "ported heads and intake HUGE" and then go on to say that they ported the intake hole and exhaust hole as big as they go, they are ports, not holes. Just because the heads have huge ports doesn't mean anything, you have to work on the items mentioned in the thread previously. Your car will probably pull 360-380 rwhp with how the heads were described. I would never trust anyone who ports head professionally that doesn't have a flow bench. Don't pull the "dont be mad because mine will be faster" because guess what, there are 100's more LT1 faster than yours, who are easier to talk to, and have knowledge they are willing to give out. From what it looks like, everyone TRIED to help you out, yet with a very loose description of the items, you cannot honestly expect someone to help you out the way you want. So you sir, get off your high horse, because this is a community in which fellow f-body owners help each other out, not picker over who is going to be faster. Grow up, please...

Re: horsepower question

i agree with you completely mustangeater about the idea of this forum and several people did try to help me out but others just mocked me. All im saying is people could have asked me for more details like most did these "mean or immature" posts were only directed at the few that were making fun of me. I will be the first to say that i have alot to learn about cars. I also know that many others will be faster than me, but honestly i don't care. I just wanted to get some info from other people and when i answered questions i was made fun of. The fact that i don't know about heads made me turn to a pro, i do have alot to learn and that is part of the process. I turned to a machanic i trust to do the job, if i messed up o well.
everyone im not trying to be a jerk but i don't like getting messed with either.

Thanks for all the input i will let you guys know how it turns out i am going to a friends shop called Speedworks in lewisville to get lt1 edit done and dyno, i'll try to video it and put up a post.

thanks all

Re: horsepower question

btw, i attempted to help you and you didnt make a comment cause you didnt like the numbers I proposed for your setup. considering your description of the intake runners on the intake and intake ports on the heads, my numbers seem to become more accurate than once thought.

Re: horsepower question

I had the guy explain what he did to my heads a little better. He said all the valve ports are still the same size he would need a flow bench to do anything to those, but he also explained all he did was make the ports for the exhaust and intake bigger for easier flow. He mentioned something about not making the intake perfectly smooth b/c it helps the air swirl more and spread out when it is a little rough. He said he took out the valves and did a three angle job on them because they were not sealing properly. Hr assured me that all the ports were the same size b/c he gasket matched them and also said it is not as important to have these ports match it is mostly important if he had put in bigger valves or something like that. I hope this more accuratley depicts what was done to my heads let me know.
thanks
P.S. sorry about being so bit**y it must be the roids gotta lay off those sometime
