Horrible Oil Leak.

Horrible Oil Leak.
Hello all, I've got a horrible horrible oil leak in my 1994 Trans Am. It only leaks when cold, and it's really quite bad. 2 steady streams from when I back out of the driveway, to the road, then up the road till the stop sign about 10 feet up. It seems to stop around there. (If I pull over up the road and sit for a couple minutes, just a couple drops, I think it's just residue.)
It seems to be leaking from the rear left side of the engine. (It comes off the oil filter, the oil filter is *not* leaking.)
I took the car up to a friends house, and tonight we removed the intake manifold. I was hoping it was the intake manifold gasket, but that seemed absolutly fine. Feeling around the back of the block just below where the intake manifold would have been just got our fingers dirty with dirt. Didn't seem to be a lot of oil back there, and the seal looked fine. On friday or saturday we'll reinstall the intake manifold, but in the meantime, I'm wondering if I should keep it off, incase there's anything else to check?
Thanks.
PS. Anyone ever take their car into a mechanic to get an oil leak fixed? How expensive were the repairs?

Re: Horrible Oil Leak.
If your car has an oil cooler, you may want to check the adapter and the lines for leaks. Also, try changing the oil filter, sometimes some of the gasket from the previous filter will get caught and cause a leak like that. After that, I'd say invest in some of that dye that glows under a black light and see if you can track down the source.

I took the sending unit out as well, and put some thread sealer stuff around the bolt. Didn't notice tooo much oil from it. I think it was mostly dirt/water. (Rear of my block is dirty and wet)
It's a manual car, so no oil cooler.
Could it possibly be the oil pan?

Re: Horrible Oil Leak.
^funny you should say that i did it and cannot find the leak, only pin sized neon spots like 4 or 5 of them, around the oil pan and block, something is leaking when i punch it, i cant tell if its white smoke or blue, but i thought it was coming off of the y-pipe because thats what it looks like.

Re: Horrible Oil Leak.
You ever figure this out. I'm apparently having a leak that fits your description perfectly. I'm about to try the UV dye. I've changed and checked everything, Intake, Oil Sending Unit, (93 Car), Oil filter, Oil filter adapter. I can't figure it out and it's driving me crazy.
