20-30 from HEaders and 30-60 is very possible don't see what the argument is. Half the restrictions are from the cat on back.

Dude, 60 rwhp from a set of LTs is not going to happen on a stock internal motor. If you have a Supercharger running some decent boost, then going from stock manifolds to LT headers will give a huge gain, but I'm betting not 60 rwhp. Now....on a supercharged car with COMPLETELY stock exhaust from heads back to tips, then yeah, going LT and 3" catback might give you another 50-60 rwhp, but that's pushing it on a stock car.

If people gained 60 hp from going to LT's, I dont think there would be a f-body without them.

If you want SMOG legal headers get SLP. They're 1 3/4" and are built a little better IMO. Also, look into TPIS headers if you have a 94-95 car.

sure they'll be better but learn from someone else's mistakes in the past...Headers is one mod u dont wanna go cheap on for a LT1..then performance of your car will show

30 is pretty average for a more expensive set of shorties-600 range

60 is average for the more expensive set of Lt's-1,200 range

average for basic Hookers is around 40 or so-600 range

average for basic shorties is around 20 or so-400 range

Not every manufacturers tubes have the same flow calibrations.
Theres plenty of people on here that could explain this better than I can so I'll leave it at that.

Most of those 60hp 1.2K systems already come as a complete system with the custom Y included that's thier advantage.

Headers are only as good as whats being connected to them...

Are you serious?

This seems a bit high, but I will do it to mine if you have some sort of before and after dyno proof. However, you are right, at the collector they are more restrictive than I think they should be. That would be the easiest 15 HP I ever picked up...and I am willing to pick it up!

Another thing to look at with shorties/midlengths is the primary size. Make sure it is 1.75"! My Arizona Speed and Marine midlengths are 1.75" primaries, as well as being built extremely well. They were expensive, but the SOTP gain I felt was really good, and the fit and finish on the headers is great. Not to mention they still let you retain emissions equipment.

I'd say if you don't want LT's, get AS&M's, SLP's or TPIS

I believe when he says 15 hp, he means you'll gain a total of 15 rwhp from going from factory manifolds. Not 15 hp on top of the gain you get from going to the shorties. After looking at that collector on the shorties I used to have, yeah I'd say you could gain an easy 5 on top of the gain you get from just going to the shorties for a total of about 15 rwhp.

If you want shorities get the Edelbrocks TES's just as goos as any mid-lentgh but better. Easy bolton and I mean it. No hit or Mis "MAC" product. Edel Brocks slipped right in hassle free as they described. Only down side is they come with Cheap gaskets so buy coppers.

for a stock motor needing emissions, jet-hot hooker shorties are good. AS&M would be even better if you change cam or heads in Calif

might as well get the Hooker cat-back also for less than $300

i felt a big diff ripping off the stock 94 exhaust system and putting in Hooker shorties, 3" cat, hooker cat back

went from 98-99 in 1/4 to 103-104 mph and i did a 106.1 recently w/ 3.73s, my new homemade ram air scoop and no traction

i'd say that's 20-30 hp

What he said ......The Hooker shorties will only net you 9-10 hp on average if you dont mod the collectors.....youll get another 5-6 hp after you open um up. You can also work on port matching them a bit too .

Unless you have emissions to worry about don't bother with the shorties. Just do a search on this board, there is many people who have switched from shorties for LTs and said they felt a huge difference. LTs aren't that expensive either. I got a set of ceramic coated LTs from Jet-hot for like $530 shipped.
