hooker long tubes,ORY=quiter car????

After installing my long tubes and y pipe, my 95 Z seems to be less agressive sounding at idle and low RPM.WOT is a different story though. The car has only a Flowmaster muffler and factory pipe.Would a 3in exhaust make a lot of difference? If so what would give me the throaty, aggressive tone again? Also I have noticed more popping sounds with the Flowmaster,

My current setup of long tubes, ory, and the Maganflow is quieter at idle than my stock manifolds/exhaust cutout setup. Once I get the cutout on the current setup, it will be loud once again across the whole rpm band.

My pacesetter LTs to hooker catback are extremely quiet at idle as well...floorin it on the other hand is a different story.
