Hooker long tube users inside please.

I have ordered some hooker long tubes and the mufflex Y-pipe w/O2 bungs. I have did a search but could not find what I am looking for.

How long of a O2 extender do I need if my O2 bung is in the y-pipe? I only need one right?

Whats this about buying some heat reflective material? I am getting the heat boots but what else do I need?

I am ordering the over-the-valvecover set from Thunder.

I am also getting the fel-pro gaskets.

Thanks,
Jeff

You'll need 2 o2 extensions.. I did. I ordered 24 inch ones to be safe. That way you can guide them up top so they dont touch the headers on the way to the collectors.. Im not running over the valve covef wires. Ive rigged one of my wires over the cover for now. THe #5 plug wire looks like it'll burn if u dont go over the valves.. I'll test the theory after the 29th. I dont want to burn the wire before going to SLP day.

Get the 24"ers. I like the non-ghettoness of the extensions...

I have nothing against you guys that prefer the ghetto way .

I needed the 24 inch ones on my 1997 SS. The bungs were in the header collector. There was some excess, but I would rather be a little long than too short.
The reflective tape everyone is talking about, is a heat insulated tape. This is needed to wrap the fuel lines on the driver's side of the bottom of the car. You will also need the heat tape to wrap around the heater box. If you burn a hole thru this, it will cause coolant to leak into the floorboard of the passenger side. They sell this tape at any performance shop. and definately get the heat sleeves to cover the wires.

O.K, 2 24" extensions 2 be safe and heat tape. Thanks for the help.

one more thing...
What about the EGR. I know my solnoid is bad but do I need to block it off at all with the long tubes?

Thanks again,
Jeff

yeah. You will also need some EGR block off plates. Since the longtubes do not come with EGR or AIR hook ups, they will need to be deleted from your PCM. There will be two holes in the back of the intake manifold after you remove the EGR hardware. Do a search on here for "EGR block off plates". There is a guy who sells them for 20 bucks. Be sure and put some high temp RTV gasket maker around the edge of the block off plate. The AIR system will need to be taken off also. It cleans up the engine VERY nicely. Do a search to get a write up on how to properly remove it.
Your best and cheapest bet on getting a PCM change is to get with Brian at pcmforless.com He charges i believe 100 buck to do a PCM change. he is a great guy and has some awesome tuning.
If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
