are hooker and jethot problems the same for tpis and as&m?

has anyone had the same problems with tpis or as&m headers that the jethots are having? does the y-pipe install with any problems? i just read the thread in the marketplace for the jethots and they seem to be more of a hassle than its worth. next month ill be ordering a set of lt's and want the install to go smoothly and look great. tpis seems the way to go, but i would like some experience info.

thanks

A buddy of mine has the TPIS, they had the hardest passenger side header too install, and I hear you can't use a tubular front K-member with them.

I have Jet Hot coated Hookers but I don,t have a Ypipe, I put some header mufflers on mine but I still had problems with the tranny crossmember being in the way.
That is a problem I think they all have but if you have a custom Ypipe made a good pipe bender can easily bend you up one that does not have a crossmember problem.
I love my Hookers, they went on fairly easily and plug access is excellent.

I have ASM's and the hardest part about the install was bolting everything in. They y-pipe should go on no problem *if* you don't torque down the headers like I did.

Dont worry about that thread in the market place. My Jet-Hots were a fairly easy install. Some people simply dont get that they are longtubes and the car was not designed for them, they were designed for the car. Basically it just means you'll get stuck in some spots unless you've done them a few times and they aren't going in effortlessly. Same thing with a blower or turbo, the kit is made for the car but its still not going to be that fun. Anyways, I had a custom y-pipe made and it worked out great. For the money, nothing beats the Jet-Hots.

well, ill probably just get mids or shorties then. is there any real difference over lt's and shorties?? most headers claim 20-30 hp gains and thats like all of them, even the 1 5/8" ones.

any problems or unsatisfactories with edelbrock TES or JBA headers?

My Edelbrocks are great shorty headers and was my biggest SOTP power mod (well....cept for the blower). I still wish I had gone longtubes though....as most do.

I'm bragged many times on here about shorties. My SLP's worked out fine and they gave a noticeable gain. I'll go the longtube route one day, but I'm happy with the shorties for now.

I am no longer a beliver in long tube headers. After my gain of 8hp and another friend of mine running same trap speed after a Hooker LT install I think shorties are the only way to go on a stock motor. From what I hear Macs and Hooker make good shorties.

well, from what i experienced i'd say there's no comparison. if you want longtubes, go with the tpis over the jet hot. i bought the jet hot longtubes because they were cheaper, and after 2 weeks of fighting with them i gave up and shipped them back, they just wouldn't fit. i then got the tpis longtubes and about an hour later i had them both in with no trouble at all. you do need to dent the #1 primary tube on them to clear the steering knuckle but it's no big deal. they also don't have the slip fit primary which has been known to leak on the other brands.

I had shorties and now Hooker LT's and there is a noticeablel difference in power and in sound and if you are going to do heads cam down the road you already have the LT's. I say get the Hookers they are in my opinion the best.

I guess the thing to remember here is if you're making a dyno queen fine but horsepower increases across the board are what matters....not peak. The longtubes would help out alot.
