Hoods, weight of stock and aftermarket

I am looking at cowl hoods, I really like the look.

I have a $300 gift certificate from Summitracing, but the only cowl hood they have is the Harwood, which is a none functional hood and is really not the cowl look I am going for at all.

SO the problem is I haved called a couple people and tried to get information.

One person told me the stock hood is 60 lbs, and the hood they sell, the s-400 is 45 lbs.

Anothe person told me the stock hood is 25 lbs, and the the hood they sell, the VFN 4" bolt-on is 23 lbs.

I also called about Glasstek...could get very little information about the hood.

Looking for a bolt-on hood that weighs less than my stock 96 Z28 hood.

Any help would be appreciated.

All fiberglass hoods will weigh less than your hood....I am not sure of the exact weight, but I know that the difference between a stock hood and my cowl hood that I had was probably 15-20 pounds or so...very noticeable difference

As far as functionality, no cowl hood for our cars is functional...you can probably make something to make it quasi-functional, but there are no kits at this time...

there is a noticable difference in the hoods. i had to lift both of them up and off/on to my car and the fiberglass hood felt like a feather compared to the stocker.
