Honda ATF quick question.

I just put 4 quarts of the honda atf-z1 tranny fluid in my car. I noticed that it doesn't say anywhere that it is dextron III. Is this okay to use? I don't wanna start the car up if its the wrong stuff.

ATF-Z1 is ok to use. I've been running it for 20k miles, no problems.

The Honda ATF IMO is better than the Syncromesh. Dextron is just a scam man for GM to make money. That orange coolant is garbage too.

Well let me tell you this stuff is great. I may even think about putting one of those stickers on my windshield that says "POWERED BY HONDA". Okay well maybe not. But yeah this stuff works good. My shifts are a lot smoother then they were before.

I don't know about the Honda stuff, but I put in the Royal Purple synthetic oil for manuals that call for atf and I noticed a huge difference in the shift quality over dextron 3.

BTW the orange coolant is much better than the green.

I would have to disagree with you on the whole coolant thing. The green stuff was much better. Didn't find as many holes and cause all sorts of leaks like the orange stuff does. I am actually thinking of flushing the whole system out and switching back to the green stuff and change antifreeze every year.

Back on the subject, I put the Honda tranny fluid in the tranny too, and I do like it much better than dexron. Shift quality is much better.

OK I've read these threads before about the Honda fluid and I'm fairly convinced but can I pick this stuff up somewhere besides a dealership?

The regular price at the dealer is something like 23 or 24 bucks here... I chopped it up with the guy for a while and told him it was for my pontiac. He ended up giving me the 4 quarts for 12.99, cool guy =)

Oh and BTW, the orange coolant SUCKS
