Does anyone see a problem with cutting my O2 sensor wires and crimping in some longer pieces? I need to extend the wires by about 5 inches.
Im concerned that i somehow may affect what readings the PCM sees if i do this instead of getting a real O2 extension.

If your gonna do it yourself and not buy the premade ones i'd advise against crimping them. Crimping dosn't provide the best connection and since the o2 signal to the computer is in millivolts you don't want any voltage drop due to a bad connection. When you do it, do one wire at a time, there are two wires that are the same color, brown i beleive, just make sure you don't mix them up. I extended my own by soldering extra length of wire in so i could drive my car while i was waiting for the o2 extensions and new o2s to come in the mail. I didn't throw a code and it drove fine.

I did it but not with crimp on connectors. I used some little wire "couplers" that have a screw on collar on each end and a metal conductor inside. Spliced in enough wire to make it work and its been that way for a few years now, no problems.

I did it a long time ago and ran the car for a while without having an issue with them. I did solder the connection, taped each one, then taped the bundle of wires, then put split loom over the harness and taped that up!
As far as the connection goes, crimping will show a little less voltage drop, but soldering will (in my opinion) make the most durable connection.
