what will happen if you use the stock heat range? will you get some spark knock or something?

 

No, you just wont get optimum results.

 

Rule of thumb = 1 step colder for every 75hp increase.

Try a step colder and see how they look after a week or so of driving. If they carbon up then you need to go hotter. The correct heat range will self clean.
