High temp RVT sealant.

Should i use some high temp RVT sealant on my felpro header gaskets that i will be installing on my car shortly. I will also be deleting EGR and AIR at the same time. Should i use that stuff on the aluminum block off plates on the back of the manifold and #8 primary tube. Also should i also use it on the threads for the AIR plugs. Let me know. Thanks.

Whatever you use it should read "O2 sensor safe".

If you're using the Fel Pro composite gaskets then you shouldn't need any RTV. If the block offs don't have a gasket, then yes I'd put a bead on there. Let the stuff take a slight set before you start tightening everything up.

Copper RTV

I would use it on the block off plates, and the AIR/EGR fittings. Leave the rest of it alone.

If you do decide to use it for sealing the flange to the head, dont use a gasket with it. Put a 3/8" bead around the port and bolt in hand tight. Then let it set up for 15-20 min and do your final tightening

EDIT: MG beat me to it

Re: High temp RVT sealant.

I just finished an install of SLP shorties with the FelPro gaskets and Breslin locking bolts. I had leaks at first, even though they claim not to back out. All but 2 of them loosened up. I re-torqued and locked them and they seem to be holding fine, and I don't detect any leaks. I didn't use any RTV on the Felpro gaskets. I did use some Permatex Red Hi-Temp RTV for sealing the EGR pipe gasket... would suggest you use some on any block off plates you make... not sure you'll need it for the AIR fittings... mine don't leak... but they are easy to get to if you later decide they need some RTV. Good luck!

Use Permatex Ultra Copper. It is the highest temp rated Permatex brand. The other brands I've tried do not work as well.

I use this on all header & exhaust connections & I never had a leak yet.

Ultra Copper all the way. Used Stage 8 Locking Bolts and I've had to crank them down a few times -- but everything else is great.

I agree. I used it on my turbo hot side and never had any leaks.
