high rpm miss solved

I was getting an intermittant miss in the 6000-6300 rpm range. It felt like i was dropping a cylinder and my dyno graphs had really deep dips above 6k. I finally pulled the opti and found that one of the rotor screws worked itself completely loose and was rolling around in the case. The other screw was backed out about halfway. The rotor was free to wobble around alot! The car was acutally perfectly fine until i got it above 6k, but i dont see how with as much play the rotor had. This opti had about 25k miles on it and saw 6k+ rpm at least once a day.

My new opti had a small amount of what looks like loctite on the screw threads, but i would still recommend that anyone installing a new opti pull the rotor screws and use some red loctite on them. The new opti works great, no more missing, and it pulls smoothly up to 6400.

Re: high rpm miss solved

Good advise on the locktite. My two previous opti's suffured the same failure and the second one had no more than 3k on it. I'm just debating on the MSD cap and rotor kit for the next one.
