High Mileage H/C cars...
High Mileage H/C cars...
...I want to know how many miles your car has, what mileage the H/C was done, and the specs of the cam. Thanks.
I have 102,000 on my Z and just wondering on whether to rebuild it or do a nice H/C. The car runs fine, but I always thought that since your goin to spend all that money why not dish out some more and rebuild the thing.

Re: High Mileage H/C cars...
i have 89,000 miles, and my car runs like a champ..as you can tell by the times in my sig. My e/t is nothing spectacular my car traps at 112mph. I beat the snot out of her every time i drive it, and she is holding up just fine. Although, i do understand that beating on a car with as many miles as we do is kind of a gamble, so last month i picked up a LT1 out of a taxi. I currently have it sitting on an engine stand, and as i am getting money i am slowly collecting all the parts to do up a 383. I plan on actually installing the 383 next winter, so i have plenty of time. Long story short, dont worry about it...the LT1 is a solid motor and the only reason that people have so many problems after H/C swaps is because they dont take their time. My car was parked all winter, so i had 5 months to go through everything on my engine, clean her up, and make sure i did everything right. Be very careful when you install the cam, that seems to be the place that most people are having the problems. They are nicking the cam bearings and killing oil pressure, then eventually the motor.
