high compression LT1 guys
I had a custom one made. My original one went after two start ups. I also lowered the timing at start up and now it starts like a stock compression car. I had a optima red top and with the old starter it would crank really, really slow and then fire. Starter was a lt4. I payed a guy local to me 120 for the new custom one. They use the same style in his all out race car, and has actually cranked it to pull it onto a trailer....lol
maybe I should try something a bit smaller if I can find one
You are right. But when it comes to starters to make them smaller they use smaller motors/solenoids with the same grear to make it fit in a smaller package. Not 100% true for every one but generally what I have seen.
Mine is around 14, Yesterday it did fine.....
How are you guys starters hooked up?
I had a bunch of problems until I got rid of the relay and went to a ford solenoid. Its a damned shame everytime I have to fix something I swap on ford parts

I dont think I want to take a 50/50 chance maybe I will buy 2 used stock ones that way I have a backup if it goes at the track
