Hey 383 people!!!
Hey 383 people!!!
I was just wondering what you guys did to your tranny and rear end to hold up to the new numbers. Plus what WERE the numbers? I don't really care what went where and why, just what you guys did. Also, about the tranny, T-56
I don't care about those panzee A4 guys

I must be a pansy
.
T56 and Street Twin was replaced with a manual valve body TH400, Gear Vendor O/D, 3" chrome moly DS and a Strange 12-bolt with the "super strength" posi. 800flywheelHP, 800ft-lb.

What if I was running for around 500-600(big gap, I know)?
I know I need a new clutch, duh
But would the factory T-56 hold that power? Once a month track visits...whatta ya think?
My stock T56 has held so far and I take the car to the track every weekend. My Moser 12 bolt has spit out the ring & pinion twice. I do not have dyno numbers for my car yet but I am running 120 - 122 MPH in the 1/4 so I estimate the flywheel HP to be just over 500. I am running the SPEC stage IV ceramic clutch.
I just swapped into to a 2.9x T-56 and I'm going with a Spec STAGE III clutch.
I am keeping my stock rear until it goes which I dont expect. I wont be doing to much drag racing and autocrossing wont stress it too much, *gulp* I hope.
Ps
Fred, you are a panzee

Buddy of mine made hundreds of passes with his 99 SS with a T56. Best pass was a 10.8@126mph, 1.50 60-ft. 5 to 6K dumps on a Ram clutch.
99SS Timeslip
But he went "pansy" and swapped to the TH400 this year, still running the same timeslips.
Rich Krause routinely puts 800rwHP through his T56 in an almost 4,000# convertible. You can find rich on the "Drivetrain" forum, which is maybe where this should have been posted....
