hesitation at idle = alternator?

I had a hesitation that would happen only at idle. The car would have small lunges while I would sit at the stop light and holding the brake on. Since I changed my alternator now, which was going bad and would squeak like crazy in the morning, the hesitation seems to be no more. I didn't think this would fix the problem, and figured it was maybe the opti. Is it possible that the alternator could affect my car in this way? I'm still test driving the car every once in a while to see if it is for sure gone.

Thats interesting.

I had the same thing happen to me with a bad battery. Once in a while there was a hesitation off idle and it went away when I switched to a Red Top Optima.

I didn't realize it till several weeks later.

lol, I was about to post a thread about this because i have a corroded connection and it seems to make the car stumble at idle.

Should turning your headlights on make your RPM's drop by a little bit?

I have a corroded connection and you have to shake the battery around a bit and it will start, but the car acts funny until you drive it for a while
