Is it simply a function of torque numbers where a rear end will break?
Or could it be load?
I mean, would a lightweight car be less likely to break the stock rear than a factory stock weighted car with the some amount of torque (assuming they both had the same traction)?

When you launch a car, there's a weight shift that takes place. The heavier the car, the greater the amount of weight over the rear axle and the greater the load on the rearend.
