Heres my LT1 rebuild list, opinions?
If you spun a bearing, there is probably damage to the crank and there may be damage to the main bores/caps. The stock deck height is ~9.020". If you are using a 3.48" crank and a 5.7" rod a 1.56" CH would put you 20 thou in the hole, which is stock. If it needs to be decked, you should go zero deck or 10 thou in the hole and use a 0.39-0.41" gasket. Re-use your stock rods if they are in good shape - they are good pieces. If the crank isn't bad, have it turned and re-use it. If you must get a new crank on a tight budget, Eagle is ok.

That's what I'm thinking, I'm buying a 97 SS with 94000 miles and I already have a complete LT1 with home ported stock heads, home ported intake, 230/230 - .560/.560 112lsa cam, Rollmaster double roller timing chain, CSI ewp,58mm tb and Canton oilpan. The h/c and ewp are all new but the short block has 88k on it and I'd like to freshen it up to go with the rest of the new parts. I'd like to put forged pistons, rods and a new crank in along with a main girdle. Then put the motor in the car with some longtubes and a 2800 stall and get it tuned.
found out today when i tore it down, i wiped out 4 out of 5 cam bearings down to the copper, one was out of the bore completely and roached a cam journal on the cam (discoloration from heat) i'll post a pic of the one cam bearing later..... On a better note, everywhere else in the motor looks awesome, hardly any scuffing at all on the piston bores, rod and mains look almost perfect too, hopefully theres nothing wrong with that one cam journal or else.
