Angry broken heater hose...need some help

I have no idea what it is that it broke off at or how I could fix it. I can't find my camera so no pics yet, have to use a camera phone probably. It looks as though it broke at piece number 13 on this pic from shbox; going to the WP

problem is that piece is crimped onto the lower hose so I cant just pull it out and replace it. any ideas? I really dont want to replace the entire set up just for this piece

best pic I could get now.

Slit the crimped collar and peel it off. Then you can replace the bad part with a piece of hose and some normal hose clamps. #13 is a flow reducer that some people have just done away with (with no apparent side effects).

so I can just do away with the flow reducer and the crimped collar...possible connect ithe two hoses with say a barb coupling and clamps?? sounds pretty simple enough. what is the point of the flow reducer....sounds like something I wouldn't really want reduced

I think it is to reduce flow to the heater core, but I have never read anything official. Yeah, for this particular thing, a hose barb and some clamps should work.

Mine has been spliced together for 3 plus years with no aparent effect. Now with the temp over 105, it does tend to run a little warm. But the AC still works just fine and it does not puke coolant out of the reservoir.
