Question Help w/ compression test.

How do you disable the fuel pump? I pulled the pcm ign fuse and the car will not turn over, put the fuse back in and the fuel pump runs. I dont know how to kill the fuel pump so if any one can tell me I would appreciate it.

The car should turn over w/o the pcm computer fuse. I just did mine maybe 2 weeks ago and it was fine. You could also unplug the coil plug (not the one from opti but the one that sends signal) and unplug your injector fuses as well (7.5 amp ones under hood relay panel). That worked for me as well before I found that I was supposed to just pull pcm fuse which was much easier. Remember to crack your tb blade all the way open and watch the gauge to see how it builds compression.

You need to pull the PCM BATT fuse not the PCM IGN fuse.

Thanks, I just pulled the injector fuses. Here is what I found on the compression check tell me what you think.

Cylinder: PSI
1 217
2 220
3 215
4 220
5 240??????
6 217
7 212
8 211

Why is # 5 so much higher than the others? The book says as long as its not 20% difference then its ok. The car has 88K miles on it.

Thanks

Did you have any miss fires or poor running in the past or present?? I would say that any build up of carbon in that cylinder would lower the volume of that combustion chamber and possibly increase compression??

Did you repeat the test a couple of times to ensure you didn't just get anomalous reading on that cyclylinder??

yeah i did the test 3 times on that cylinder and it was the same every time. The car has been running really rich and I am trying to find out why. I pulled the header and that cylinder was a whitish grey and looked like it had been really lean.
