Help Us Asap!!!
Help Us Asap!!!
I installed OVC plug wires kit in my car today, then we decided to go ahead and install my friends while we were on a roll. At the end of the install for his car, he started the car (or turned the key at least) without putting the serpentine belt on. There was a brief loud noise, then nothing (idk if it stopped or it he stoped turning the key). What should be done now? Try starting it again? What could be messed up??

96 M6 LT1, similar mods as mine in sig
we put belt on, but it wont start, didn't hold key long - there was a softer noise -- could one of the boots to the opti be not hooked up, would that cause it not to start?

Re: Help Us Asap!!!
Lets hope so, because I'm gonna go to autozone now and hopefully they'll give me another since it had a lifetime guarantee and I got it a couple months ago -- i cant think of anything else that could be damaged, can you???
Re: Help Us Asap!!!
Did you maybe loosen the starter to get to plug 8 and forget to fasten it back down before starting the engine? Maybe you don't need a new starter, just need to make sure the gears are going to mesh correctly.
Re: Help Us Asap!!!
FYI - starter was shot, took it to autozone and had them test it, it kicks out but the gear does not spin. New one is in, car is all assembled, belt on -- but I cant stand whether it be my car or a friends for something to be unsolved before bed (like when I had header problems during install I was up till 6am in the snow). So I have not yet attempted to start the car again. It should be fine now, but why would a serpentine belt not on blow the starter? Is it because there was no combustion to move the pistons, so the starter just couldn't handle that kind of force?
