Help! Transmission fluid everywhere!
Help! Transmission fluid everywhere!
Well I had previously started a thread mentioning that I had an oil leak. Well after my intially mind shock I actually started poking around. It definitely is not oil that leaked, in fact its transmission fluid.
Now what happened was I was accelerating on the highway then white smoke started going everywhere. My engine bay was covered in fluid it appears to be transmission fluid. I also checked and the bottom of my bell housing is missing on my transmission. The tranmission pan bolts were a little bit loose. The fluid is everywhere, there are puddles next to the throttle body on the intake manifold, and all over the exhaust, my catalytic converter is drenched as well. On the transmission pan the bottom of the bolts had fluid as well. I can't seem to locate the origin of the fluid, the tranmission seems to be shifting fine for the moment.
Its a 1995 Pontiac Formula V8 with a 4L60E. AhartZ28 rebuilt the transmission he put in new clutches, an S-10 stall, a transgo shift kit.
I'm pretty confused as to where to start looking if anyone could provide any insight I would be most appreciative.

Re: Help! Transmission fluid everywhere!
probably the trans cooler lines that go up to the radiator. I think we have external trans coolers stock too, i know my caprice and impala SS had em, maybe taht blew. Id checkl the lines giong from the trans up to the radiator first. Thats the only way i can see if being up around the engine area.
AND STOP DRIVING IT!!!!!!!!!! If its low on fluid you can burn up all the clutches and cause ALOT of damage trying to drive it.

Wow K+ man, thanks. I'm gonna check that stuff out.
I figured driving it wasn't a good idea
, thanks for the heads up.
Where do the lines feed into the radiator?
I'm gonna search myself, but if anyone knows that would quicken my ability to check that. I looked around the top and couldn't see much. My friend is coming over with a jack because mine is too big for my car
