Help with traction mods! (no tires)

Im looking for more traction. simple as that, I hear alot of things that help. But what helps me the most? LCA? Control arm relocation Brackets? SFCs? Tourqe Arm? whats gunna make me say wow, that made a huge difference.. By the way the car is not a T-top car, so theres less flex there. Im sick of blowing the tires off the thing when i get on it in first and 2nd. any imput would be appreicated

I know the title of your post says "no tires", but your not gonna have traction that makes you say "wow" unless you get some drag radials or something. You can have all the suspension work in the world, but still have bad traction b/c your on regular street tires.

drag radials dont do jack for you unless you do a burnout first. I use this car as a street car and VERY rarely sees strip time. Thus i will be using street tires and need suspension mods.. a thank you

Your best bet is for a set of subframe connectore, lowering spring, LCA relocation brackets, LCA's, and a Strut tower brace. The biggest difference out of all those would be the SFC, makes it feel like a whole new car.

SFC's are for handling, they arent going to make you hook up. They will keep the car from flexing on a hard launch though (which isnt gonna happen on street tires). And lowering springs are going to make you hook up even less. Strut tower braces are also for handling and wont do a thing for you tractionwise. I'm gonna say LCA's, relocation brackets, and some adjustable shocks up front.

Take the front sway bar off..BTW, I run M/T ET Streets on the street, too...So street traction isn't a problem. With no other mods I pull 1.73 60 ft. times. It's enough to see daylight under the driver side front tire.

Spohn has the best deal on relocation brackets. BMR and spohn both make nice LCA's. I bought lakewood's LCA's - they're boxed (strong) but heavy and made of mild steel not chromeloy and they're non adjustable. No, they're not the best thing out there but for my car they're plenty. If you're one of those people who absolutely has to go overkill on everything I'd get a tubular chromeloy piece.. I don't think anyone but the most hardcore dragracer needs and adjustable unit.

Oh, and you realize that this may even hurt cornering? If your car is not lowered (mine is not) and you run the LCA in the lowest slot then the car handles a bit different but it does bite in a straightline. Also, the polyurethane bushings may cause bind which can also hinder cornering ability.

As someone else already said, good tires will go a long way. That doesn't necessarily mean drag radials.. even a great set of street tires will make a very noticeable improvement. If your tires are getting bald replace them. If you're running crap tires replace them. I'd suggest the BFG KDW if you drive in the rain, if your car never sees rain then go with the KD and use the KDWS if your car sees snow action. Other people use the firehawk SZ50's (I think) with sucess. Do a search.

I honestly think tires are the place to start, if you're running a good set then ok.. but if not then don't expect any other suspension work to make diddly squat difference.

You could ditch those 17'' wheels and get some 15'' drag style wheels and that would help. Even on street tires you would notice a difference. I know I did.
